June 12 – A Chieftain of the All Progressives Congress,APC, Prince Moye Alade, has joined Nigerians in celebrating June 12 Democracy Day, describing it as a symbol of the people’s will, resilience, and hope for a better future.
In a statement on Thursday, Alade said June 12 goes beyond history; it represents the enduring fight for freedom, justice, and credible governance in Nigeria.
He paid tribute to the late Chief MKO Abiola, whom he described as a true hero of democracy, whose sacrifice must never be forgotten by present and future generations.
Prince Alade commended President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for his consistent role in the pro-democracy movement and for honoring June 12 as Nigeria’s true Democracy Day.
He urged Nigerians to reflect on the significance of the day and renew their commitment to national unity, good governance, and democratic values.
Alade also called on leaders at all levels to deliver the dividends of democracy through transparency, inclusion, and policies that uplift the lives of ordinary citizens.
He reminded Nigerians that democracy is a shared responsibility and encouraged active participation, especially among the youth, in shaping the future of the nation.
