Corps Members – The Nasarawa State Governor A. A. SULE (Engr), has pledged his determination to create employment opportunities through skill acquisition and Vocational training programmes for corps members posted to Nasarawa State.
He made this known at the Closing ceremony of the 2025 Batch A Stream I Orientation Course for corps members deployed to the state at the Magaji Dan Yamusa NYSC Permanent Orientation Camp in Keffi LGA on Tuesday 13th May 2025. The Governor who was ably represented by the Honourable Commissioner for Youth and Sports Development, Hon. Yakubu Kwanta, noted in his speech that the State’s administration places a high premium on Youth development and empowerment as a requisite for National ģrowth and progress.

He therefore implored them to work in synergy with their host communities to achieve laudable objectives whilst achieving self-reliance. He further urged them to identify community development projects that will have direct bearing on the people of Nasarawa State.
The Governor urged the corps members to be catalysts for progress and advocates for a better tomorrow, “Shun all forms of crime and criminality that will dent your image and other social vices that are capable of jeopardising your chances of realising your dreams I future”.
Subsequently, he called on employers of labour to accept corps members posted to their organizations and make full use of their services. He urged them to provide enabling environments for corps members to achieve optimal productivity.
Finally, he congratulated the 2,138 corps members and camp officials for achieving a hitch free orientation.
In her remarks, the State Coordinator, Mrs Salamatu Muhammad, congratulated the corps members for conducting themselves properly during the three-week orientation course.
“Over the past three weeks, they have participated in drills, lectures, value reorientation, sports, leadership training and the Skill Acquisition and Entrepreneurship Development (SAED) programme-equipping them with skills for self-reliance,” she said.
She urged the corps members to approach the one year with humility and selflessness. “Be positive ambassadors of your families, the NYSC and our nation. Embrace your postings, avoid seeking reassignments and strive to impact your host communities meaningfully,” she said.
Muhammad, who appreciated Gov. Abdullahi Sule for his unwavering support, expressed happiness with the progress of the construction of the new Multi-purpose hall at the orientation camp.
Notable amongst dignitaries present was the NYSC Director-General, Brigadier General O.O. Nafiu, Ag. Director (IPRU) Caroline Embu, Ag. Director (Special Duties) Alh. Nura Umar from NYSC DHQ. The Director-General inspected the NYSC North-Central SAED Center located in the camp premises, noting areas for improvement before his departure.
